We count collected submissions whose public creation time falls inside the latest rolling 24-hour window.
The median shows a typical recent discussion and is less distorted by a single unusually popular thread than an average.
We compare two valid daily subscriber snapshots. Until an earlier snapshot exists, the page reports that more history is needed.
